Open to kids from age 3 to 18, this fishing tournament is a great way for them to feel what it's like to cast a line in the water and enjoy some quiet time in beautiful surroundings. There's also a competitive tournament for local schools, which can add to the excitement of the event. Held in the Elberta City Park each October, people assemble to celebrate their German heritage and partake of good food. Sausage and sauerkraut are heavily featured, with a nice variety to suit different tastes. Baked goods and plenty of other foods are available. Live entertainment is provided, including some acts geared at just children. A 1-mile fun run and 5K run/walk are also held at the event, giving adults and children something active to do. Celebrate Halloween in a unique way by participating in this trunk or treat at The Wharf, located in Orange Beach, Alabama. Kids and even adults are welcome and encouraged to dress up, then they go from one parked car to the next on Main Street to get candy. A costume contest will be held, with multiple prizes awarded. Kids can also ride a pony or camel, act crazy in the bounce house and take in the wonders of the Spectra Sound and Light Spectacular. For this one night only, admission to the Ferris Wheel is only $1.

Hangout Oyster Cook-Off

Held annually each November, this cook-off is a celebration of the Gulf oyster. Attendees get to try the oysters prepared in a dizzying array of dishes, with over 40 local restaurants and chefs participating. You get to vote for the three that wowed you the most, while celebrity judges also attend and cast their own votes. Included in admission is live entertainment, often with some pretty big national acts performing. Alabama Gulf Seafood puts on the event at The Hangout.
